Reference material with @

A reference tells the agent which existing item you mean. It carries the item’s identity into the message, so you do not have to re-upload a file or describe where a result appeared.

CLIOFind it. Reference it. Open it.Screenshot walkthrough
Type @brief, choose the existing file, then open its chip to inspect the file in the canvas. Actual UI states with reading pauses; the draft remains unsent.
  1. Type @ in the message. Workspace files are expanded first. Sources and artifacts appear when the workspace has matching items.
  2. Keep typing a name, such as @brief. Search includes files, sources, artifacts, conversations, and other recorded context.
  3. Click a result, or use ↑ / ↓ and Enter. CLIO replaces the typed search with a reference chip at that position in your draft. This selection does not send the message.
  4. Click the chip to inspect its file, result, or conversation. Finish your request and send it when ready.

+ → Reference opens the same picker with a search box. It inserts at the cursor position you left in the message.

Action Result
Type after @ Search existing workspace context. Matching categories expand.
Enter or Tab while a result is highlighted Add that reference to the draft.
Escape Close the picker and keep the text you typed.
Click the reference chip Open the referenced material for inspection.
Remove a reference chip Remove it from this message. The existing file or result remains.

If you intended ordinary text such as an email address, press Escape to dismiss the picker. A typed name is not a structured reference until you select a result.

For an entire connected source, open it through Attach → Your sources and choose Add source to message. Browse into a subfolder to use Add this folder to message. For a selection inside a chart or image, use the view’s own Reference this or region capture controls. See Human-agent interaction.

A reference gives context; it does not change file permissions. A read-only linked file remains read-only when referenced.
