Working with files

Open a file beside the conversation to read it, check a result, or ask for a change. This guide covers the file viewer. To bring in new material or choose what CLIO should use, see Files and sources.

Open Files in the workspace canvas and select a file. You can also open a file from its attachment or reference in the conversation. Choose Preview to read it, and expand the canvas when you need more space.

Select a report in Files, expand the canvas and scroll through its pages. The recording uses a fictional sensor report. Selected portions of a continuous recording; idle pauses are shortened. A pointer guide follows the recorded actions.

Scroll through PDF pages and document slides continuously. Use the zoom controls in the upper toolbar for small text or figure detail; the page count is at the bottom. Images fit the available space and can be opened fullscreen.

Word documents and PowerPoint presentations can have a saved PDF preview for reading inside CLIO. The editable file remains available to open or download. If a preview is unavailable, download the original and open it in your editor.

Type @ in your message and select the file, then say what you want to know or change. For example: “Explain the chart on page 2” or “Shorten the conclusion and keep the tables.” See @ references for finding files and adding them to a message.

After a revision, open the updated result and check the change. For saved artifacts, Versions shows earlier results and Lineage shows the inputs and steps behind them.

Use Download file in the toolbar to keep the original file. For an Office document, Open in offers its PDF preview and available editors. In Desktop, this can include Word, PowerPoint or Excel when installed. In the browser, Copy path copies the path of an editable working copy.

Open File actions (the three dots) for Copy to another workspace and File information.

For a complete authoring and revision walkthrough, continue to the report and presentation example.

To share a conversation together with its outputs or workspace, see Exports and downloads. For a report combining several visual outputs, see the development dashboard workflow.
